چکیده مقاله |
This experimental work deals with the convective heat transfer coefficient (CHTC) optimization in spiral plate heat exchangers (SPHE) by the response surface modeling (RSM). Optimizations were performed utilizing Design of Experiments (DOE) as a product control and optimization tool in the industry. CHTC was optimized by employing different appropriate fluids. The effects of physical properties of fluids, including viscosity, density, and mass flow rate (MFR), on the convective heat transfer factor underwent investigations. The optimized results and the amount of heat power showed an excellent agreement with the SPHE formulation. The experimental results confirmed the direct proportional relationship between the fluid’s CHTC and the total heat transfer with its density and MFR, while there was an inverse proportional relationship with the fluid viscosity. Moreover, four semi-empirical linear equations for water, nitrobenzene, ethylene glycol, and oil were obtained from the regression table. The highest and lowest CHTC values were for water and Ethylene Glycol, respectively. As confirmed by the obtained optimal linear equation with the sum of the least squares (R2) with a <10% error and a high accuracy of 90%, the results from the RSM model were accurate. |
